INVITATION FOR BIDS

1.The Canada Pakistan Basic Education Project (CPBEP), being locally executed by Semiotics Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of brand new / unused office equipment and books as per the following details.

2. Bidding document can be obtained by submitting a written request on firm's letterhead along with evidence of having supplied similar item to a public/private entity during the last two years. With respect to office equipment, official distributors and authorized dealers are eligible to obtain bidding document and participate in bidding, whereas for books, publishers and reputed booksellers are eligible.

3. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the office of Mr Ansar Ali Noor, Program Officer (Finance & Administration), CPBEP.

4. Pre-bid conference is scheduled to be held on November 19, 2007 at 1030 hours in the office of CPBEP. Potential bidders are encouraged to attend.

5. Bids must be delivered to the above office by 11:30 am on November 30, 2007 at the latest and must be accompanied by the bid security as per above table in shape of irrevocable and unconditional Bank Draft/ Call Deposit from any scheduled Bank of Pakistan in the name of Semiotics Consultants (Pvt) Ltd.

6. Bid will be opened in the presence of bidders or their authorized representatives who choose t attend at 12:00 noon on November 30, 2007 at the project office.

7. The bidders are requested to give their best and final prices as no negotiations are contemplated.

8. In accordance with the agreement with the Government of Pakistan, this project is exempt from all taxes and levies. Therefore, bids should be exclusive of any taxes and duties levied by the Government of Pakistan.

9. Bidders my bid one or more packages as per para-1 above. Bid evaluation and contract award will be made on package-wise basis.

10. As provided in the bidding documents, bidder(s) engaged in corrupt or fraudulent practices (including collusion/pooling) will be declared ineligible either indefinitely or for a stated period of time by the purchaser.

11. The purchaser reserves the right to accept or reject any bid without assigning any reason to the bidder(s).
