Community Development Officer

Brooke Hospital for Animals (Pakistan) is a non-profit limited company that works for welfare equine animals (horse, mule, donkey) owned by the poor. Not only does it provides veterinary cover to sick and injured working equines but also advises their owner about maintenance of good animal welfare. The Brooke's aim is to keep animals healthy , happy and fit for work -and thus benefiting the several million family members who rely on these animals for their livelihood. The Brooke (Pakistan) invites qualified personnel to join our workforce to gather information , interact with communities forming and organizing community groups , raise awareness and training of equine owners and stake holders.

COMMUNITY   DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

LOCATION: Lahore and Peshawar (02 posts) , frequent traveling will be required.

Purpose of Role: To provide necessary support on community development aspects relating to equine welfare to the Brooke's veterinary teams. The emphasis here is on working owners the animal owners and various stakeholders using participatory approaches to ensure better animal husbandry and preventative practices. This position enquires 75%  field time and 25% office time.

Qualification, skills and experience:

• Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology and Animal Sciences and other relevant degree.

• Minimum 5-8 years field experience in community development work.

• A proven track of conducting and facilitation community development training.

• Proven practical experience in implementing participatory methods and tools in all stages of the project cycle.

• Good theoretical knowledge and practical experience of community capacity building.

• Well versed with IT; should be able to use Microsoft Office and other computer application softwares.

• Candidates who are applying for Peshawar must be fluent in Pashto language.
